Here are some of the exciting things to come in 2016 and a few of our favourite bits of 2015.
NEW FOR 2016
TWIN KANGAROO WRAPS - We are delighted to announce our new Kangaroo Wrap for use with twins which we will be stocking from January 2016. This specially designed wrap is easy to use and can be worn by everyone. It supports two babies at once in the optimal position for Kangaroo Care making it ideal for parents of multiple babies. We've had really positive feed back from parents of twins and triplets who have used the top this year and we're so excited for it's launch.
HOW TO USE OUR PRODUCTS - We have some great videos planned for 2016 showing how to achieve optimal positioning in our range of Kangaroo Care Clothing.
VIJA DESIGN ON THE ROAD - We will be continue our success of seminars and talks about Kangaroo Care at medical conferences, babywearing events and baby and toddler shows across the UK.
HIGHLIGHTS OF 2015
Vija Design is the UK's widest range of specialist Kangaroo Care Clothing offering stylish, easy to use solutions for parents at home and out and about and a specialist range of wraps to enable skin to skin contact for premature babies. Our company, Kangaroo Care UK LTD, was created to focus on providing the best in Kangaroo Care clothing to families and medical services in the UK and Europe. Kangaroo Care UK is run by two mums, Leigh Dumighan and Nicole Hastie. Leigh is a mum of two lively boys, Wade 3, and Warwick 6, who was born prematurely and became very ill but was saved through the life saving touch provided by his mum in skin to skin contact. Leigh brings her firsthand experience and empathy for parents of premature babies and her passion for family centred NICUs and Kangaroo Care for all babies to all her work. Nicole is mum to Megan 7, and Ruth 11. She is a certified Sling and Babywearing Consultant and a passionate advocate for the benefits of skin to skin contact for babies and parents. She applies her skills in babywearing and parental support to enhance our customer service and is our lead educator, reaching out to the parenting and babywearing world to share the benefits of Kangaroo Care. KANGAROO CARE UK REVIEW OF 2015
April 2015 - Vija Design UK launched at the International Nursery Fair in Harrogate. We met lots of sling professionals and nursery retailers who were excited by our range of Kangaroo Care Clothing.
May 2015 - UNICEF and BLISS Neonatal Conference - Leigh and Nicole were honoured to meet Nils Bergman and hear his lecture about the Neuroscience of Kangaroo Care
15th May 2015 - World Kangaroo Care Day - Leigh began working with NHS Trusts to promote Kangaroo Care using Vija Design clothing. Meeting parents, sharing her own experience as the mum of a premature baby and working with the amazing nursing and care teams in NICUs around the UK. Through these colloborations there are new items in our NHS range designed to meet the needs of the UK's most vulnerable premature babies. June 2015 - Nicole led a series of workshops on Kangaroo Care at th European Babywearing Conference in Bristol, UK. This image is one of the European Delegates trying out our Short-Sleeved T-Shirt.
August 2015 - We received the prototypes of the Prema Wraps with poppers, designed by Vivivanne Brault based on our work with NHS trusts. The new design gives easy access to babies during Kangaroo Care meaning monitoring and care can be more easily completed without having to end the skin to skin contact. The new design is now available to buy here.
October 2015 - Northern Sling Exhibition, Sheffield - Nicole led a well received Seminar called 'Using Kangaroo Care Clothing for Skin to Skin Contact'
November 2015 - 15th November marks International Prematurity Awareness Day. On this day Leigh and Nicole were incredibly proud to announce our new colloboration with Bliss charity. £1 from all Vija Design garments sold is now being donated to support their work with families of premature and sick babies. December 2015 - New arrivals to the UK Long Sleeved Kangaroo Care T-Shirts have been in high demand for use during the colder months.
